Irving David

Irving DavidIrving David read law at the London School of Economics and subsequently trained with a leading London entertainment law firm, Wright & Webb.

After qualifying as a solicitor, he joined Warner Brothers and became head of legal and business affairs for their London-based record company and music publishing subsidiaries, WEA Records and Warner Bros Music.

Irving returned to private practice and is now a senior partner at DWFM Beckman Solicitors based in London.

He has built up an impressive roster of clients which reads like the Who’s Who of the British music industry including the legendary Beatles producer, Sir George Martin, impresarios Harvey Goldsmith, Victor Hochhauser and Malcolm McLaren, recording artists Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Sex Pistols, Spandau Ballet and Emerson, Lake & Palmer, opera legends, José Carreras and the late Luciano Pavarotti and the Estates of Bob Marley and Sergei Prokofiev.

He also represents countless dancers, singer-songwriters, independent music publishers, record labels and record producers

He advises Scottish Ballet and the British Ballet Organization; gives frequent Master Classes to young managers at the Music Managers Forum; is a voting member of BAFTA, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts; and contributes regularly to various trade publications such as Dance UK News on legal and commercial issues relevant to music and dance.

As a board member of the Orchestra he has special responsibility for its Legal Affairs.
