Alison Balsom - Trumpet

st petersburg times
In her hands, the trumpet rivals the human voice for expressivity and tonal colouring.
St. Petersburg Times, 2006.

Alison Balsom
Trumpet

Alison Balsom has cemented her reputation as a distinctive young artist and one of classical music's great ambassadors. In 2006 alone, Alison picked up both a Gramophone and a Classical Brit Award, performed at the BBC's Last Night of the Proms, and released her latest album, Caprice, to great critical acclaim.

Alison has worked with numerous leading orchestras and conductors including with the NHK Symphony under Christopher Warren-Green, the Stuttgart Radio Symphony with Sir Roger Norrington, Bamberg Symphony with Mikko Franck, the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, Munich Chamber Orchestra with Christoph Poppen, the BBC Proms, and the Barbican's 'Mostly Mozart' Festival. Alison performs regularly with the London Chamber Orchestra, and future highlights include the Orchestre National de Belgique, and her US debut with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, followed by concerts with the Colorado Symphony and IRIS Chamber Orchestra.

As an EMI Classics exclusive artist, Alison performs a wide range of repertoire on both modern and baroque trumpets. Working regularly with leading orchestras and conductors, Alison also has a vigorous recital programme and performs with her own Balsom Ensemble.
