A Welcome to New Members…
We would like to welcome the following as new members of the Friends:
Mr and Mrs Peter & Carolyn Spittle
Mr John Holden
Reminders
Membership Secretary Niall McChesney requests that Friends respond promptly to renewal letters - either arranging a standing order, sending through a cheque or contacting him to let him know that you will not be renewing. Your co-operation will be much appreciated.
From the Treasurer
If you've made it your New Year resolution to keep supporting OOTS remember that a gift-aided donation of £100 to the Orchestra is worth £128 this tax year but only £125 after 5 April. In the words of a rather famous supermarket chain - Every Little Helps!
Fine Wines from Vin Neuf!
The Friends would like to recognise the support of Vin Neuf, based in Union Street, for their support of the Friends and orchestra these past few months. They have been providing the lovely wines we have been enjoying after the concerts. We hope to continue this partnership in the coming months. The Treasurer would like to add that for those of you planning some new years abstinence, why not try the 50cl red Mas Neuf from Vin Neuf. Apparently it goes really well with sausage and mash, stew, roasted vegetables (if you’re a vegetarian) or even on its own!
Book Corner
OOTS Friend and former committee member Tony Grey has recently published his second crime novel. Entitled A Body Politic the story is set on the Caribbean Island of Avariss. It is a story of crime, corruption and political intruigue set in a tropical background. Further details can be found on Tony's official website www.antgrey.com and the novel can be purchased there or via various on-line book sellers - Amazon, WHSmith, Waterstones etc. Several Friends have already read Tony's first novel and report it as a highly enoyable read!
Warning...
There is now a £2 charge for parking at the Grove Street car park. We know many of you do park there for OOTS concerts and this charge will apply from now onwards - we would hate for you to enjoy fantastic music and then be confronted by a parking ticket at the end of the evening.
Everyclick update
Everyclick.com. We now have 10 users generating about £10 per month between them for the Orchestra. They all say that for everyday searches on line the site does as well as Google so please do use Everyclick. There are about 75 Friends that we know of who have e-mail addresses and if only a third of you switch to Everyclick for your internet browsing that would be worth about £300 a year to the Orchestra.
Don’t forget this costs you nothing, the money comes from Everyclick’s advertising revenue.
